Baseball
The Tuggeranong Vikings Baseball Club Inc
The Tuggeranong Vikings Baseball Club Inc. has been affiliated with the
Tuggeranong Rugby Union and Amateur Sports Club Inc. since 1978. The Club
fields teams in all grades from A Grade through to Under 8's. The Club's
colours are red, white and grey in keeping with the colours of the Licensed
Club.
Competition
The competition commences around early October and finishes in mid to late
March. Junior teams play Saturdays, Senior teams play on Sundays, at
various venues around Canberra, but due to the number of games being played
some are also scheduled for midweek evenings. Both competitions have a
Christmas break with the seniors having two to three weeks off, and the
juniors break approximately equal to their school holidays.
Training
Most senior training is held at Viking Park and junior training at Calwell
Playing Fields. Training schedules are determined by coaches prior to the
season starting.
Registration and Fees
Registration is late August or early September. Teams are usually decided
by the first competition game, however, the Club will attempt to accept and
place any new players throughout the season.
Membership
Membership is open to any resident of the ACT or surrounding areas. All
senior players become members of the Baseball Club upon payment of their
registration fee, as is one parent per junior registration. Non-players
over the age of 18 can also become baseball club members for $5.00.
Membership entitles voting at all Baseball Club meetings, including the
Annual General Meeting.
Contacts:
The Club is always keen to welcome new and former players, together with
any person interested in scoring, umpiring, coaching or simply helping in
an administrative capacity.
The club has a long successful history in the local baseball competition
and has played many juniors who have gone on to play baseball at the
highest level.
