CAPITAL GOLF CLUB
The June long weekend saw the annual Bay City Challenge take place in Eden with some 22 golfers travelling down again with have a good turn out and all who attended had a very enjoyable time. Saturday's event was a four ball best ball stableford with some good scores in saw Capital take a one match lead (6-5) despite the locals protesting that we had brought the cold Canberra weather with us. Some notable performers on the day being first time travellers Greg and Mas with 48 points coming second in the days competition and Jock taking out the $98 "Golden Shot" on the Par 3 3rd hole.
The Sunday was the individual stableford competition and for the first time in the history of the Bay City Challenge the visiting team will take home the trophy with the final score being 18 matches to 15. Again there were some good scores in with our Club President Ian taking out the day's competition with 44 points setting up our overall victory. The weekend was topped off by a fine feast put on by the Eden Gardens Country Club and we would like to thank Golf Club President John Fletcher and his committee for organising a great weekend and we look forward to hosting them on the long weekend in October. Also a reminder that Capital Golf Club members have reciprocal rights with Eden Gardens Country Club which has a fantastic layout, great greens and you will always find a warm friendly reception from the members down there. Finally thank you to all those who made the journey down to Eden for what was once again a great time had by all. Hopefully next year our numbers can grow.
